Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo this afternoon paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Osu Traditional Area, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, at the Osu Palace. Accompanied by Sheikh I.C. Quaye, former Greater Accra Regional Chairman; Prof. Mike Oquaye, former 2nd Deputy Speaker of Parliament; Stanley Adjiri Blankson, former Accra Metropolitan Authority boss; Ishmael Ashitey, Nana Akufo's call on the Osu Mantse forms part of a series stakeholder meetings he has undertaken since he arrived in Ghana. Presenting four bottles of schnapps and an undisclosed sum of money to the Osu Mantse, Nana Akufo-Addo explained to the Osu Mantse that the purpose of his call was to announce formally his arrival into the country after taking a brief break from active politics. Ordinarily, Nana Addo stressed that the Osu Mantse being his "landlord and brother-in-law" should have been his first point of call after arriving from London. He, however, indicated that circumstances beyond his control had prevented him from calling on the Osu Mantse immediately after his arrival. Nana Addo thanked the Osu Mantse and the four clans for the honour done him by granting him audience to address them. He showered praise on Nii Okwei Kinka Duwuona VI for the role he played in ensuring that all the 4 clans in Osu had united, which has translated into the peace, development Osu is currently witnessing under his reign. Nana Addo further assured the Osu Mantse that contrary to propaganda that made the rounds when he was outside the country, stating that he was sick and resorted to the use of a walking stick, he was fit and very healthy. Nana Akufo-Addo also took the opportunity to personally inform Nii Okwei Kinka Duwuona VI regarding the decision he has made on his political future ahead of Thursday�s announcement. Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, on his part, thanked Nana Addo and his team for the reverence he has shown his "landlords" by calling on them. Just as is being depicted in Osu, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, urged that unity was the only way forward for Ghana if she is to achieve its developmental goals. The Osu Mantse noted that Nana Addo was looking much younger and sprightful than ever, despite the propaganda that had made the rounds in his absence. After pouring libation, Nuumo Gbelenfo III in his remarks decried the side-lining of �traditional religion� at official state functions. He bemoaned how Wulomei are no longer invited to be play any role on Independence Day ceremonies and other state functions under the present government. He asked Nana Akufo-Addo not to repeat this unfortunate development should he become President in 2016. He further urged Nana Addo to open his doors continuously to the people of Osu, adding that "if you live well with us, we will also live well with you and have your best interests at heart."
