The President of IMANI Center for Policy and Education, Franklin Cudjoe has expressed shock at the fact that certain elements in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) believe Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia�s assessment of the alternative solutions he provided are nothing new. According to a post on his Facebook Wall, Franklin Cudjoe wrote; �It seems to me that we are so stubbornly cold to receiving wisdom and crucially acting upon it. Permit me folks, but when some say, that Dr. Bawumia, the rather great teacher of common sense economics "said nothing new ", isn't it obvious that in the intervening periods he been speaking, managers of the economy have been doing exactly the opposite of what he recommends?� �Then there is the usual chorus even by the most educated that the buster of buffoonery, Dr. Bawumia offered no solutions but only criticized,� he continued. Franklin Cudjoe further stated that it must not be so �difficult to understand that at the least when someone criticizes your actions, they are simply saying do the opposite of what it is you are doing? What is egregiously shocking is the inability of these commoner thinkers to even recite the very things the sage Bawumia said earlier. This is not how to reason at all and it is not funny�. His comments come on the back of a lecture; Dr. Bawumia delivered at the Central University College as a Visiting Professor of Economics. In the lecture, he prevailed upon the Bank of Ghana to reverse measures rolled out to stem the downward spiral of the cedi, saying dollarization is not the cause of depreciation but rather the effect of weak economic fundamentals and the loss of confidence in the cedi. This call was received with harsh criticism by a section of the political class but Franklin Cudjoe is of the view that it is becoming the trait of the ruling government to quickly dismiss salient suggestions by the opposition, which could go a long way help resolve the numerous problems facing the nation.
