Akufo Addo's 70th Birthday Parcel (PHOTOS)

The most profound highlight of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo�s 70th birthdays party at his Nima residence last Saturday was a presentation of two Holy Scriptures - Holy Bible and Holy Quran - to the newly-turned septuagenarian by the Abontidomhene of Kyebi, Osabarima Kyeretwie Boakye Danquah. The presentation went with an admonition to the politician/lawyer to continue being truthful as he has always been. �You have always been truthful. Continue being so, as you keep these important scriptures,� the chief told Nana. The Holy Scriptures representing the two great religions of the world-Christianity and Islam � symbolize moral purity of which truth is a critical component. The birthday was preceded by a religious activity earlier at the Ridge Church, Accra, where Nana Akufo-Addo, together with his family and other dignitaries who accompanied him, rendered gratitude to the Almighty God. Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and Sam Jonah, who lost his son recently, were among a long list of personalities who graced the thanksgiving service. The church service was presided over by the Anglican Bishop of Accra, Right Rev. Dr. Daniel Sylvanues Mensah Torto. At the Nima residence of Nana Akufo-Addo, an elaborate programme was unfolded as the septuagenarian cut a birthday cake and proceeded to receive his large retinue of guests from all walks of life in an ornate hall. The guest list was long and included former President Kufuor; the Okyerehene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Penin II, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Nana�s running mate for the 2012 elections and his spouse, Samira, Kwadwo Mpiani, former Chief of Staff, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, National Chairman of NPP; Raymond and Sam Okudzeto; Ama Busia; Stephen Ntim, an aspiring Chairman of the NPP, Otiko Afisah Djaba, NPP Women Organizer; Tina Mensah; Sheikh IC Quaye, former Greater Accra Regional Minister and many others. The party people were also there in their numbers Even as Nana Akufo-Addo received well wishes from his admirers in the hall, party supporters had taken over the lawn of his residence, dancing away to the tunes which were blaring out from giant size loudspeakers mounted at vantage spots.
