Abedi Praises Kwesi Appiah

Ghana legend Abedi Pele and Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah look to have buried their differences as the latter has praised the trainer of the national team insisting he will lead the country to success at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil in June. Abedi Pele, who publicly hit out at his ex-teammate when he dropped his sons Jordan and Andre Ayew for 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, now says Appiah has made the Black Stars the most dominant team in Africa. The three-time African Footballer of Year, who was said to have had a rift with Appiah since 1992 over captaincy of the Black Stars, added that the coach is steering the country in the right direction by demanding more from the Black Stars players. Many football fans have called for the boosting of the technical team with a foreign technical director with some doubting the competence of the coach but Pele disagrees insisting that Appiah is strong tactically. Kwesi Appiah has turned us into the most dominant team in Africa now. We have made another giant step as a team and we must build upon that in Brazil to prove that indeed Ghana football is the best in Africa, Abedi Pele said. We have to be more dominant than we have been. From the very first minute we must put massive pressure on our opponents. He asks a lot from his players. Every day it is so intense, but I love that. The manager is tactically so strong. Our football is phenomenal and we want to show that more than anywhere in the World Cup stage. This is the stage for us to prove our quality and for me Ghana must dominate in Brazil to make us all proud.
