Offeh Gyimah Heads KATH

REPORTS AVAILABLE to The Chronicle indicate that Board and management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) have finally found a replacement for the outgoing Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ohene Adjei, who was has been asked by the Ministry of Health to proceed on indefinite leave. The paper can authoritatively report that the hospital has finally settled on the Director of Administration, Mr. Isaiah Offeh Gyimah as the new CEO for the hospital. Mr. Gyimah was among three names which were being considered for the position, following the exit of Prof. Ohene Adjei, with the other two names being the Medical Director and the Director in charge of Nursing Services, Dr. Baffour Awuah and Mrs. Patience Yeboah-Ampong respectively. The appointment of Mr. Gyimah brings to an end, weeks of controversy over the continued occupation in office of the outgoing CEO, Prof. Ohene Adjei. A reliable source told the paper the Ministry, in consultation with the Board selected Mr. Gyimah, whose experience and knowledge of the hospital, date back to 13 years ago. The new CEO had since 2001 worked in the hospital as the Director of Administration after being transferred from the Effia Nkwanta Hospital in Sekondi. He has also worked at the SDA Health Services from 1984 to 1990 and Pantang Hospital from 1982 to 1984. Mr. Gyimah is a graduate of the University of Ghana, Legon and University of Leeds, UK, where he read and received a Bachelors� Degree in Health Service Administration and Master�s Degree in Hospital Management respectively. He is also a product of Prempeh College Senior High School and SDA Senior High School (Bekwai), and has attended and facilitated various national and international seminars in leadership and health management issues. Mr. Gyimah assumes office at a time public confidence in the Ashanti Region�s biggest health facility has suffered serious credibility crises following recent saga involving the missing babies in February this year.
