SHOCKING U-turn by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kojo Bonsu, not to submit to the traditional truce appears to have derailed efforts to settle the brouhaha surrounding the curse invoked by the former Presidential Candidate of the United Front Party (UFP), Mr. Akwasi Addai, aka Odike. Mr. Kojo Bonsu has apparently adopted a different stance from his initial position to seek an amicable settlement of the case last week, after his spokesperson, Samuel Gyamfi, stated emphatically yesterday that the City Mayor had no intention of submitting to the process. The KMA boss, through his family members, led by Ohenenanahene Nana Osei Bonsu, last Friday appealed to the Asantehemaa�s court to intervene in the matter by calling on Odike to overturn the curse invoked on the mayor and the Chief of Asokwa, Nana Fe Baamoah. For fear of unforeseen spiritual consequences, the delegation of family members of the city mayor visited the Queenmother�s palace to declare their readiness to settle the dispute between Mr. Bonsu and the former UFP leader. It was agreed, therefore, that the two parties would meet at the Manhyia Palace before proceeding to Antoa to begin the process for the overturning of the curse. But in a quick turn of events, the KMA boss, through his spokesperson, has denied ever delegating his family members to negotiate on his behalf. Though a tape recording in the possession of the paper reveals clearly that family members of the mayor were in the Asantehemaa�s Palace for which they received commendations from some sub-chiefs who were present. The city mayor has, however, denied any knowledge of such meeting, insisting he never asked anyone to represent him. Consequently, Mr. Odike, who submitted to the negotiation process arrived at the Manhyia Palace and waited unsuccessfully for the family members of the KMA boss. When The Chronicle visited the Manhyia Palace yesterday morning, a frustrated Odike was seen leaving the premise with his entourage, after waiting for close to two hours with no sign of Mr. Kojo Bonsu. It is not clear what next step the UFP leader will take in such circumstances, as his role in the case is only to assist Antoa reverse the curse of which consequences he claims, does not bother him. Being the one who invoked the curse, there is no way it can be revoked without his present but that can only happen when the KMA boss submit himself to the process. THE SPIRITUAL PERMUTATIONS Meanwhile, The Chronicle has been assessing the repercussions that could have on both parties if the revocation process falls through. According to one school of thought, Mr. Odike can walk free without any punishment, or whatsoever if it turns out that he is on the side of the truth, and in such a scenario, the KMA boss will bear the brunt of the powerful deity.
