Kotoko-AshGold clash moved to Accra

The FA Cup Committee (FACC) has moved the quarter final match of the MTN FA Cup involving Asante Kotoko and AshGold to the Accra Sports Stadium. This, the committee said was influenced by the temporary closure of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium to all matches of Kotoko. Kotoko are searching for another venue to call home following a temporarily closure of the Baba Yara Stadium. The Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) temporarily closed down the arena to all matches involving the league leaders with immediate effect on Thursday, citing misconduct. The decision comes after incidents of missiles throwing onto the field of play after the final whistle of the First Capital Plus Premier League match involving Kotoko and Heart of Lions on March 26, in Kumasi. According to the GFA, "The decision is in accordance with Article 15 (2) of the GFA regulations which states that the GFA may order the closure of any league where it is satisfied that the safety of match officials, spectators and players cannot be guaranteed". Kotoko had three home league matches to play in Kumasi to end the season.
