Count Down To NPP's National Delegates Conference

Aspirants for the various positions in the NPP are rounding up their month long campaign to be elected as national executives. Most of them are already in Tamale trying to sell their message to the delegates who have arrived for the conference. The Party is currently putting finishing touches to the conference grounds at the Tamale Sports Stadium. Meanwhile, the Police in Tamale are on the lookout for assailants who shot into a crowd of NPP supporters late last night in Zogboli. PRO of the Northern Regional Police Commend, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, told Radio Ghana that nine people were injured as a result with one in critical condition. He said the incident occurred around 11pm when the NPP supporters were having a street jam ahead of Saturdays national conference where new national executives will be elected. According to him, the assailants drove in an unregistered vehicle but managed to flee the scene before the Police got there. ASP Tetteh told Radio Ghanas correspondent that despite the incident, the Police are fully prepared to maintain law and order in Tamale. The incumbent Chairman of the NPP, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey and aspirant for the National Youth Organiser, Sammy Awuku have visited the victims at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
