An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced Davis Kwadwo Danso, a lotto writer to 12 years in imprisonment for defiling a child under sixteen years of age. Davis Kwadwo Danso was charged for Defilement of child under the age of sixteen years contrary to section 101 of Act 29/60. The presiding judge Sedinam Agvemava found the accused person guilty on court one and sentenced him to twelve years imprisonment putting into consideration the age of the accused person and how long he has been in custody. According to the prosecutor ASP Sarah Acquah the accused Davis Kwadwo, is aged 65 years. He is a lotto writer who lives in his kiosk at Konta Dome and the victim is at years of age. She is a class five pupil of Anglican Primary School and lives with her parents. During the early part of 2011 the victim was introduced to the accused person by her mate who dropped out of school because she was impregnated by the accused person. The prosecutor further stated that the accused encouraged the victim to be visiting him from time to time by giving her various sums of money. On 25th February 2012, at about 4:00pm, the victim again visited the accused and he forcibly had sex with her after which he warned her not to inform anybody. ASP Sarah Acquah said the accused continue having sex with the victim on different occasions. The last time was on the 6th May 2012. On the 7th May 2012 while the victim was in school the complainant who is the Head Mistress of their school Madam Agnes Boamah noticed unusual changes in the victim and suspected she was pregnant and questioned her. That was when the victim let the cat out of the bag. She went further to mention that he accused had also had sexual intercourse with three of her class mates aged 12, 15 and 12 in their respective statements according to the prosecutor, the victims confirmed what the first victim alleged and stated that the accused has been having sex with them since 2011 till the date. The accused also had sex with a 13 years old girl, a pupil of Dome M/A Experimental school, and he attempted to have sex with her mate who managed to elude him. The accused was later arrested by the Madina DOVVSU for investigation. The presiding judge commended Madam Agnes Boamah Head Mistress of Anglican Primary School for action.
