Legon Student, Fedex Staff Nabbed

A level 200 student of the University of Ghana, Michael Aaron Aboagye and a staff of Federal Express (FEDEX) attached to the Drivers� and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), are facing trial over an attempt to export 17 containers of Chocho natural beauty soap with a substance suspected to be wee stuffed in them. The student and his alleged accomplice, Emmanuel Ocran were arraigned before an Accra High Court, presided over by Abdulai Iddrisu. They have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and attempted exportation of narcotics. Aboagye, who is believed to be in his early twenties and his alleged accomplices both pleaded not guilty to the charges and have been remanded into custody until May 6, 2014. The facts of the case as presented by Esi Dentaa Yankah, a State Attorney are that Ocran is a courier with Fedex attached to the DVLA, adding that the suspect served with the Import and Export Department of the firm for five years as project coordinator. According to her, on December 19, 2013, the 17 containers were sent to the export department of the company at Asylum Down for export. She explained that Ocran did not enter the items into the company�s record book as was the norm so when they got to Aviance Cargo Village NACOB officials found the substance suspected to be wee in them. The State Attorney noted that he parcel had the name of Stephen Quarshie of Airtel Ghana with the destination address as Flat 19 Thaxted House Sivitter Way Daganham Essex RM109. In addition, she said the substance was forwarded to the Ghana Standards Board (GSB) for analytical examination.
