Speed Up Work On Adomi Bridge -Chief

TOGBE KWAKU Dzaga XI, Paramount Chief of Klefe, on Monday, appealed to the Ministry of Roads and Highways to speed-up maintenance work on the Adomi Bridge. He said accelerating the work is necessary, because travellers cannot go through the frustrations and inconveniences associated with crossing over on ferries for two years. Togbe Dzaga made the appeal in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Klefe in the Volta Region. Hundreds of people travelling for the Easter festivities were said to have been stranded at the two landing sites for up to 24 hours. Togbe Dzaga said: this chaotic situation cannot continue for two years, and urged the government and the Highways Ministry to intervene. This is supposed to be planned maintenance work, but the way it is being done now, it is bringing great discomfort to many people, and I dont think government is being fair to people in the Volta Region, he said. Togbe Dzaga explained that the 0600 hours to 1800 hours span for using the ferry is not favourable to travellers, and is only imposing a certain lifestyle on the people. He said sanitation in the area was another challenge, and charged Members of Parliament for the area to get to the ground and find solutions to the challenges.
