Storm Causes Destruction At Amansie West

Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds hit the Amansie West District on Wednesday night and left in its trail the destruction of properties bringing misery to people in seven predominantly farming communities. The communities include Manso-Aboaboso, Nkaasu, Manso-Yawkrom, Abore, Manso-Suntreso, Manso-Krofofrom and Kenkyenase. A total of 78 buildings in the affected communities either had their roofs completely damaged or walls collapsed. Mr Alex Kwame Bonsu, the District Chief Executive (DCE) and Mr Amoako Gyampah, the District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management (NADMO) toured the areas to determine the immediate relief assistance they may need. They assured the victims that the Assembly would do all it could to help rebuild their ruined houses and advised the people to engage qualified artisans and use quality materials for the construction of their buildings. They also urged them to take tree planting seriously to prevent such disasters.
