Man Detained Over Dansoman Murder

THE DANSOMAN Police in Accra yesterday arrested and detained a security man in connection with the alleged ritual murder of an eight-year-old boy in the area. Speaking to Joy News� Michaella Anderson, the Dansoman Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Antwi Tabi, said the security man was under detention because he had information which was crucial for the police to investigate the issue. According to the Divisional Police Commander, the detained security man works with a company that had constructed a new building block, which was yet to be handed over to the Ebenezer Presby Senior High School where the body of the deceased was discovered. He said a visit to the crime scene indicated that the detained security man resided in the newly constructed building close to the sewerage tank in which the body of the boy was found. Superintendent Antwi Tabi said the detained security man would be the right person to assist the police in their investigations. �That is why he could not be released that day,� he emphasized. At the time, he said the police was considering arraigning the suspect to be remanded to assist in further investigations into the issue or releasing him from police custody. The deceased, Nana Yaw Buabeng was last seen on Easter Sunday, when he was sent on an errand by the mother. On the same day, he was seen in the company of two strangers, a man and a woman, who allegedly bought him fried rice. He was declared missing late Sunday but his decapitated body was found last Tuesday April 22, within the Ebenezer Presby Senior High School compound with his genitals also cut off. Police had so far questioned six people, including four security men, who keep watch at the school. The assistant headmaster of the school as well as a pastor, said to be a friend of the family, were questioned.
