Give Us A Substantive CEO Korle Bu Senior Staff

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital Senior Staff Association is calling for a substantive Chief Executive Officer for the hospital to aid in strategic planning and development of the hospital. According to the Interim President of the Association, Charles Offei Palm, governance of the Teaching Hospital is suffering due to the absence of a stable Chief Executive Officer. According to him the most important issue is governance of the hospital, for more than two years now, the hospital leadership has been left in limbo, we are having acting Chief Executive Officers and caretakers, and senior members [of the hospital] are of the opinion that this is not good enough for strategic planning and direction of the hospital. These were among other concerns raised at the launch of the association in Accra, we cannot continually provide a service that we cannot benefit from in a descent vein. It should be possible for a staff to have a Magnetic Resonance Imaging, MRI done for him /her at no cost, why should I take care of patients and when Im sick, I pay for my own services? Mr. Offei asked. The senior staff also bemoaned the poor conditions of service adding that pay the doctor well when you are not ill, so you pay him less when you are sick. When workers work for 30 years and they retire, nothing is given to them, sometimes they go home lonely, and this gives depression. This must come to an end. Several other accusations were levelled against the management of the hospital for victimizing staff members who raise concerns about some management decisions, but acting Chief Executive Officer of the hospital Reverend Albert Botchway on behalf of management denied any of such accusation.
