CIMG Holds 25TH AGM; But Still Without Accreditation To Start Local Examination

National President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG), Mrs. Shola Safo-Duodu on behalf of the Governing Council of the Institute has pleaded with government to help in accrediting CIMG to have home-grown marketing qualification as the relationship with CIM UK is in waddles, denying the Institute the permission to be its tuition center. At the CIMG annual meeting to mark its 25 years in Ghana at the Golden Tulip Hotel, it was revealed that the institutes consultancy wing has grew by over 500 percent with its Presidential ball for the first time recording a profit which shows an income of Ghc79,035 in 2013 as against Ghc37,900 in 2012. Speaking in an interview with Peacefmonline.com at the annual general meeting, Mrs. Shola Safo-Duodu posited in anticipation to start home-grown marketing qualification that CIMG has gone into partnership with South African Institute of Marketing Management (IMM) to offer distance learning dual (academic/professional) marketing courses up to the masters level to Ghanaians in June 2, 2014. According to the National President of CIMG, efforts are being made to develop its own local examination through either the National Accreditation Board approval or Parliamentary Legislation as the board has instructed the institute to formerly apply for registration of its courses. Recounting its milestone on governance issue, Mrs. Shola Safo-Duodu stated that the institute in 2013 became a proud founding member of the African Marketing Confederation which includes other professional marketing bodies from Kenya, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa. Mrs. Shola Safo-Duodu however used the 25th annual general meeting to call on corporate bodies to engage CIMG in marketing consultancy and advocacy to promote their businesses as survey has shown the achievement of the institute for the past 25 years in service in Ghana.
