Rashid Sumaila Wins First ABSA Premiership Title With Sundowns

Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila won his first South African ABSA Premiership title on Tuesday evening with Mamelodi Sundowns after the Brazilians secured a 3-0 victory over neighbours Supersport United at the Loftus Stadium in Pretoria. Mamelodi won their record back-to-back trophy against the city rivals that also featured Ghana defensive midfielder Edwin Gyimah. Sumaila was not fielded by Pitso Mosimane, who is now the first black coach to win the Absa Premiership. The former Dwarfs and Kotoko centre-back will join his team-mates to receive the trophy at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday after their league clash with Awal Mohammed and Frank Sarfo Gyamfi�s Maritzburg United. Rashid, a former Ghana Premier League best defender is hoping to make Ghana's squad for the Brazil 2014 World Cup in June.
