Asamoah Gyan Wins UAE Goal King For Third Time

Black Stars captain and Al Ain striker, Asamoah "Baby Jet" Gyan has for the third time won the goal king title in the Arabian Gulf League. The former Sunderland forward scored 29 goals just one ahead of his competitor, S. Tagliabue who plays for Wahda Fc. Asamoah Gyan won the goal king title in 2012 and retained it in 2013 and has crowned his excellent season in 2014 with yet another title. Asamoah Gyan who scored his 29th goal Friday evening had to postpone his celebration as the goal king of the Arabian Gulf League this season because his competitor S. Tagliabue who had 26 goals was playing his last game Sunday. Fortunately for Gyan, the Argentine could only score two goals to end the season with 28 goals, one adrift of the Black Stars captain's tally. Gyans goal king award is expected to bolster his confidence as he leads coach Akwesi Appiahs charges for a third successive world cup in Brazil. Asmamoah Gyan joined Al Ain in July 2012 at a fee of 6.4million. He remains the third Ghanaian player to have played for the UAE champions after Arthur Moses and Abedi Pele.
