Kotoko-Faisal FA Cup Match Postponed

The MTN FA Cup final before the final involving city rivals, Asante Kotoko and King Faisal, will have to remain in the burner a little longer to make way for some outstanding legalities to be sorted out. The once-postponed Kumasi derby was scheduled for the Baba Yara Stadium tomorrow with SuperSports endorsement, until a last minute appeal by Ashantigold threw the FA Cup Committees programme out of gear. Originally, the mouth-watering thriller was to be honoured last weekend alongside the other semi-final clash between Inter Allies and Feyenoord Academy, but had to be suspended due to Otumfuo Osei Tutu IIs 15th Anniversary celebration which was marked in Kumasi last Sunday. Ashantigold are seeking justice from the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after they were declared losers by the Disciplinary Committee in their aborted MTN FA Cup quarter-final match at the Accra Stadium a few weeks back. The Disciplinary Committee upheld a protest by Kotoko to be declared winners of the match in question per the FA regulations, following Ashantigolds failure to honour the match. A letter dated May 7 and signed by the Deputy GFA General Secretary, Isaac Addo, notified Kotoko, King Faisal and the other stakeholders of the pending appeal by Ashantigold, hence the postponement. According to the FACCs calendar, the next available date for the Kotoko-King Faisal clash is Sunday, May 25, but that will still be subject to the determination of Ashantigolds appeal. Meanwhile, Inter Allies booked their ticket for the grand of the 2013-2014 MTN FA Cup final last Sunday after defeating gallant Feyenoord Academy 1-0 in the first semi-final in Accra last Sunday.
