Two Students Die In A Road Crash

Two students of Calvary Business College at Takofiano in the Techiman North District died on the spot when a tipper truck loaded with quarry chippings ran over them. The deceased were Janet Donkor 20 and Vida Bewaale 18, all form two students, while a third student Master Ambrose Bayeletre 19, sustained injuries and on admission at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Andrews Kofi Okonegye, Techiman Municipal Police Commander in-charge of Motor Traffic and Transport Unit told Ghana News Agency that the three students were returning from home after collecting their school fees and met their untimely death near the river Tano basin. He said two motor riders, Issahaku Abdulai 26, and Fuseini Soale 33, were also knocked down by the truck which burst a tyre and somersaulted into a deep valley. ASP Okonegye said Soale was treated and discharged whilst Abdulai is in a critical condition. Chief Superintendent of Police Emmanuel Twumasi Ankrah, Techiman Municipal Commander of Police, confirmed the crash and said the mutilated bodies of the deceased have been released to the families after autopsy at the Holy Family Hospital for burial. He said Mr Joseph Esson, driver of the truck is being held by the police for investigation.
