Man Nabbed For Robbing Prostitute

TWENTY-EIGHT-year-old Mawuli Atidoe has been arrested by the police for robbing a taxi driver and a lady prostitute. The suspect according to DSP Emmanuel Basintali, the Legon District Police Commander, committed the act on May 5, 2014 around 2:00am. The suspect, also a fashion designer, hired the services of the taxi driver Daniel Awutey from Legon to Kwame Nkrumah Circle to hunt for a prostitute for the night. On reaching Shiashie, the suspect requested Daniel to divert to Abeka Lapaz where he could get his preferred lady. At Abeka Lapaz, the suspect again asked the driver to move further to Kwame Nkrumah Circle since he could not get the choice of prostitute he wanted. The suspect at Kwame Nkrumah Circle hired the services of one Najat Ibrahim, a prostitute, to spend the night with after agreeing to pay a negotiated amount of GH₵ 50. On their way to East Legon, however, on board the same taxi, the suspect pulled a knife at two other occupants in the vehicle, ordering them to surrender their belongings. The victims under duress handed over their bags, monies and other valuables to the suspect. Mawuli bolted with the items but was later arrested when a complaint was later lodged with the police. On their way to the crime scene, the victims spotted the suspect at American House traffic light and with the assistance of the police and other passers-by; he was apprehended and sent to the station for questioning. He would be sent to court for prosecution, DSP Basintali averred.
