Police Officer Robs Taxi Driver At Gunpoint... (PHOTO)

Three gentlemen, including a police officer, are reported to have robbed a taxi driver at gunpoint on Friday dawn. Luck however eluded the police officer, who unbeknownst to him, had dropped his wallet whiles actively partaking in the nefarious act. Recounting circumstances leading to the incident, the taxi driver said the three gentlemen flagged him to a stop at Laterbiokorshie, a suburb of Accra, some few metres away from Radio Gold, and told him they were heading towards Industrial area. When they got to TV Africa near Awudome Estates another suburb in Accra, the men asked him to use another lane which will eventually lead to a cul-de-sac, though he (taxi driver) was unaware of that. How the robbery took place �Immediately we got there, one of them pulled a gun on me�, the taxi driver said in an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Okay FM. �They ordered me to hand over my daily sales to them�They ordered me to get out of my car and at that point, my heart dropped. I followed their orders and they mounted a searched on me and my car. They found GHC250 on me which was my sales and GHC1950 in the car which I intend to use to pay my house rent. But fortunately or unfortunately, a wallet belonging to the gentleman (police officer) who conducted the search on me, fell but I pretended I hadn�t seen it�, he added. The wallet contained several identity cards and personal documents bearing the police officer's name. Police wades into the matter Director of the Public Affairs Department of the Ghana Police Service, Cephas Arthur was somewhat unnerved by the incident claiming he was saddened by the development. In an interview with OkayFm, he stated that if investigations prove that it was indeed an officer who committed the crime, it would surely put the service in a bad light before the general public. �We are in the police service to protect and not to extort,� he added.
