Take Reading As A Habit Librarian

Ms Beatrice Ampadu, the Librarian of the Lartebiokorshie Library, Accra, has advised parents to encourage their children to take up reading as a habit, to enhance education in the area. She also reminded parents of the importance of education to the nations development, and advised the school children to visit the library to read, and add to their knowledge. Ms Ampadu gave the advice at the weekend when she took delivery of books, worth $1,000 donated by the Janok Foundation, the non-governmental organisation based at Sabon Zongo, in the Ablekuma Central, Accra. They were mainly on Social Science, Literature in English, Social Studies and Health. Ms Ampadu appealed to individuals and organisations to assist community libraries to, in turn, lift the standard of education in Ablekuma Central. Miss Jane Amerley Oku, the Chief Executive Officer of Janok Foundation, said the donation formed part of efforts to reach out to needy communities in its catchment area, as well as country at large. She reminded parents that education is the best legacy they could bequeath to their children, to enable them to face the future without much problem. Madam Oku further urged them, to respect the rights of their children, and to ensure that they grow into responsible adults.
