The President, John Mahama has pledged to provide the necessary funds to the anti-corruption institutions in the country to fight corruption. He disclosed this in a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday. In the post, the President reiterated government�s commitment �to the process of rooting out corruption from our system.� President Mahama noted that �the passage of the pending constitutional review will help the set-up of the �Democracy Fund�, which will help improve resourcing of our anti-corruption agencies.� According to him, his government and Ghanaians as a whole have �the power to expose corruption on all levels that it may occur, and to demand transparency and accountability from our elected representatives.� It is unclear when the funds for these agencies will be released especially since a number of the anti-corruption agencies including Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) have blamed their inability to investigate and tackle corruption cases on the lack of funds. A number of alleged cases of corruption has outraged Ghanaians and has led to increase in calls for the government to tackle these cases. Currently Ghanaians are demanding investigations into contracts that were awarded under the Savannah Accelerated Authority(SADA) and other local government projects. This is not first time President Mahama has given the assurance to help the appropriate agencies effectively fight corruption.
