Madam Agnes Kusi, the Sunyani West District Chief Executive, has reiterated government�s commitment to bring health care to the people at their doorsteps. She therefore urged communities provided with health facilities to support health professionals and workers posted to their communities to make them comfortable. Madam Kusi made the call when inaugurating a GHC74, 952 Community-based Health Planning Services (CHIPS) Compound at Abronye, a farming community. Ms Eva Aryee, Sunyani West District Director of Health Services, stressed the need for the construction of more CHIPS compounds in the district. She said 16 out of the 38 expected CHIPS Compounds had been completed and that the rest would be completed soon. Ms Aryee reiterated that the government had instituted a GHC200 reward for people who report Guinea worm outbreak and urged the people to take advantage of the award and report any case of the outbreak to any health facility. Mr Isaac Tang, Assemblyman for the area, said some of their challenges included lack of electricity, absence of a Junior High School (JHS), no market to sell their farm produce and deplorable roads. At Bofuokrom, Madam Kusi said seven out of the 28 communities earmarked for rural electrification had been completed and assured the rest that their communities would be hooked onto the national grid. Mr Simon Ati Yeboah, Assemblyman for the area, said their problems included lack of social amenities, infrastructure for school, a market and the deplorable Koase-Morokrom-Asuokokor road. Madam Kusi inaugurated a durbar ground for the chiefs and people of Adentia. She stressed the need for the people to pay their taxes and other levies to the assembly to enable it to provide projects to improve their living standards. Nana Kwame Apraku II, Odikro of Adentia, said some of their problems were lack of a drainage system, waste disposal and poor roads. A durbar ground built by the chiefs and people of Kwatire was inaugurated by Madam Kusi who commended them for the facility that would be used for social activities to generate revenue. Nana Kwaku Diawuo II, Odikro of Kwatire appealed to the government for assistance to improve their living standards. Mr Martin Djan, Assemblyman for the area appealed to the assembly to complete their market stores and a library.
