Farmer Commits Suicide

A 35-year-old farmer, Kwaku Abbey, residing at Okusie Nkwanta, Obrachire in the Awutu Senya West district of the Central Region, has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself with a sponge. The deceased, who had divorced her wife with four children, was said to have told his friends days before the incident that he was leaving for Kumasi in the Ashanti Region for some business transaction; but was never seen until his mortal remains were discovered. Narrating the incident to DAILY GUIDE yesterday, the Assemblyman of Obrachire electoral area who doubles as a relative of the victim, George Pobie, said the suicide victim hanged himself in his bedroom for about four days before the incident came to the notice of the co-tenants. According to Mr. George Pobie, the deceaseds co-tenants who started smelling some bad odour from his (deceaseds) room, decided to forcefully open his door. When it was opened, they discovered that he was hanging on a sponge dead. Detective R. A. Duodo at the Bawjiase police station, who reportedly went to inspect the body, immediately ordered that he should be buried because his body was decomposing. It is not yet known what actually prompted the farmer to end his own life in that manner.
