Gov't Sponsor Kumawood Stars Kyeiwaa, Wayoosi and 7 Others To Brazil As Ambassadors

Akua Ataa Kyeiwaa, Wayoosi, Kwame BA, Kwaku Manu, Ras Nii, Dabodabo and three other Kumawood stars have been named as ambassadors for Ghana's World cup adding up to the already unveiled 15 celebrity ambassadors. The Government of Ghana is funding the travel, feeding and accommodation arrangements for seven Kumawood Movie comedians and two movie producers to Brazil as part of Ghana's World Cup contingent and ambassadors. The government through the ministry for youth and sports unveiled a 15 member celebrity ambassadors for the World Cup including musicians Shatta Wale, Becca, Samini etc. The team also included movie stars Jackie Appiah, John Dumelo and many others but the government having sidelined other local language movie stars came under intense criticisms. Buckling under pressure, the ministry has decided to include seven other movie stars from the Kumawood division and Ghanasportsonline.com investigations indicate that tickets and other arrangements have already been made for comedians like Akua Ataa Kyeiwaa, Wayoosi, Kwaku Manu, , Ras Niini, Fumyaa. Two movie producers also included on the government ticket are Kwame BA and Jones Agyeman. Kumawood movie producer Jones Agyeman told Angel FM show "We think we (Kumawood actors) were sidelined in the naming of the ambassadors for the World Cup and so we fought through many quarters and got ourselves to the ministry's headquarters". "Finally, the ministry have accepted that they made a mistake in naming the ambassadors and so they have purchased tickets for nine of our movie stars who will also travel to Brazil as ambassadors". "We got our tickets and they have prepared places for myself, Wayoosi, Kyeiwaa, Ras, Bill Asamoah and the others I mentioned to you".
