Akufo-Addo Wishes Black Stars Well Ahead Of World Cup

As the Black Stars make their third consecutive appearance at football's biggest tournament, I join all Ghanaians in wishing them the very best of luck and urge them to make the Ghanaian nation proud one more time. Football pundits, all over the world, have always bet their money on Ghana being one of the first teams to exit the World Cup at the group stages. In our maiden appearance in 2006, when we were grouped with the likes of Italy, the Czech Republic and the USA, the odds were heavily stacked against us. However, the can-do-spirit of the Ghanaian was clearly made manifest and we came second in this group and qualified for the round of 16. Similarly in 2010, against the likes of Germany, Serbia and Australia, we progressed to the quarter finals stage, a step further to what was achieved in 2006. I have no doubt whatsoever that, again, in Brazil, with a group consisting of Germany, Portugal and the USA, the Black Stars will shine even brighter. I believe strongly that with unity, determination and hard work from captain Asamoah Gyan and our players, the Kwasi Appiah-led technical team and management, and the unflinching support of us all, the Black Stars will make us proud. Best of luck! God bless! signed Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
