Parliament is considering a new Customs Bill that will harmonize and consolidate the existing Customs Excise and Preventive Services Acts, into one legislation to be known as the Revenue Administration Act. This becomes necessary following the integration of the three main Revenue Collecting Agencies as Divisions under the Ghana Revenue Authority. Presenting the report of the Finance Committee for the second reading of the Bill, the Chairman of the Committee James Avedzi said the Customs Bill 2014 if enacted will make the Law moreuser-friendly and reduce obstacles to compliance. He stated that it will also facilitate the implementation and optimization of revenue collection. Meanwhile, the chairman of the Electoral Commission Dr. Afari Gyan appeared before the House today to brief members on initiatives being undertaken by the Commission to deepen public confidence in Ghana's Electoral Process.
