Emirates Ghana Hosts World Cup Viewing Party For Sports Journalists

Emirates Airlines Ghana treated a group of journalists to a special viewing of Ghana’s last group game match against Portugal in the World Cup tournament with the message that Emirates is a global connector of people, passions and sports. The event, which took place at Ghana’s plush Movenpick Hotel Thursday, was hosted by Emirates Ghana Country Manager Hendrik du Preez who said it was intended to show solidarity for the national team. Shouts of frustration and jubilation rang out as Ghana’s Black Stars battled it out against Portugal’s national team. The final score, a 2-1 win for Portugal, ended Ghana’s hopes for progressing to the next round. But the gathering, which consisted of mainly sports writers, cheered anyway when Du Preez gave away Emirates branded sports merchandise as prizes in a “predict and win” draw. The manager said the game – and indeed the entire World Cup tournament - was a reminder of how Emirates connects people and places through our global route network. “Emirates offers value for money- modern, comfortable aircraft with excellent service, award-winning cuisine…we have daily flights to Dubai,” he said. For over 25 years Emirates has committed itself to sponsorship around the world and was the first Airline to be an official Partner of the FIFA World Cup. Emirates, the global connector of people, sponsors some of the world’s major football clubs, events and sports. Emirates Airline’s vast portfolio of international sports and cultural sponsorships is to bring people together to discover, enjoy, and share enriching experiences.
