Several Dead In North Nigeria Blast

At least 10 people have been killed and 14 injured in an explosion in the northern Nigerian city of Bauchi, police say. Police spokesman Mohammed Haruna told AFP news agency the blast, which took place on Friday evening, occurred in a building widely known as a brothel. The cause of the blast is not clear, although Islamist militant group Boko Haram have repeatedly attacked Bauchi. It came just two days after a bomb in the capital Abuja killed at least 22. The attack, in which dozens more people were injured, targeted a busy shopping area. More than 10,000 people are estimated to have been killed since Boko Harams violent campaign began in 2009. The insurgents often attack targets which they consider sinful, such as bars, Christian churches or schools teaching Western values. Boko Haram has become a source of growing international concern since the abduction of more than 200 girls from a school in the town of Chibok in April.
