Teshie Bush Road Accident Victims Identified

The four passengers who died in last Thursday�s gory accident on the Teshie Bush Road have been identified. They are Jasmine Abbey, two; Ruby Abbey, 30; Stephen Kwasi Dei, and Osei Nketia, 60. Also identified was the driver of the taxi, Mr Kwasi Adams, 35, who is currently on admission at the 37 Military Hospital, while another passenger, Mr Ibrahim Gambo, was treated and discharged at the Ridge Hospital. Inspector Charles Kwabena Mensah of the Nungua Police said the 38-year-old Mercedes Benz tipper truck driver whose vehicle collided with a KIA Pride taxi, resulting in the death of the four passengers, had been remanded in prison custody by the La Sanitation and Motor Court for two weeks. His remand, according to the police, is to help in their investigations. The driver, identified as Bright Botchway, whose plea was not taken, appeared before the court presided over by Ms Emelia K. Abroquah last Friday and would reappear on July 31, 2014. Inspector Mensah said Botchway was charged with inconsiderate driving, negligence and causing harm. The accident, which occurred during the morning rush hour last Thursday, claimed four lives, including a two-year-old baby girl identified as Jasmine Abbey, and her 30-year-old mother, Ruby Abbey. The tipper truck, with registration number ER 2752 X, crashed into the KIA Pride with registration number GR 6707-Z. Inspector Mensah said all the bodies had been deposited at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital mortuary for autopsy. According to Inspector Mensah, the driver of the KIA Pride taxi, who sustained head and body injuries, was identified as Kwasi Adams. He said he was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of the 37 Military Hospital, where he was responding to treatment, but Mr Ibrahim Gambo, who was also in the taxi, was treated and discharged at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.
