Prisons Officer Loses Belongings To Fire

Assistant Chief Officer (ACO) Samuel Kofi Adjandeh, stationed at James Camp Prison, lost all his personal belongings valued at thousands of cedis in less than an hour when fire gutted his room. According to the Greater Accra Prisons Deputy Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Francis Agbomadzi, about 5:15pm, smoke was seen billowing out of Adjandehs room, which necessitated an alarm to be raised for assistance. Prison Officers quickly responded to the call and managed to keep the fire from spreading to other rooms before personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service arrived. No combustible material was spared by the fire. A preliminary assessment of the fire revealed that the fire might have started long before the smoke began to billow. It took the officers almost an hour to bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire outbreak is under investigation by the Ghana National Fire Service, who will provide management of the Ghana Prisons Service with detailed report as well as recommendations to forestall future occurrences.
