Houseboy Caged Over Defilement

A houseboy, who took advantage of the absence of his employer to defile her 13 year old daughter, has been remanded into police custody by an Accra Circuit Court. The accused, Benjamin Teye Okonor, is alleged to have had an unlawful carnal knowledge of the 13-year-old girl on July 14, 2014 at Baatsona, a suburb of Accra. Teye Okonor, who is a cleaner, denied the charges preferred against him in the court presided over by Ms Sedina Agbameva. The trial judge however remanded him into police custody to re-appear on August 13. ASP Agnes Boafo, the prosecutor, said the complainant is a businesswoman and a grandmother to the victim. She said the accused is a part time houseboy to the complainant, and that in 2013 the victim took her bath and was dressing up in the hall when Teye Okonor entered and forcefully had sex with her on the floor in the hall. ASP Boafo stated that at about 5pm on July 14, the complainant left the victim and her other siblings in the house to the airport. The accused is said to have taken advantage of the absence of the complainant and had sex with her for the second time. According to prosecution, a six year old school girl, who was an eyewitness, informed the complainant. A complaint was subsequently filed with DOVVSU in Sakumono and Teye Okonor was arrested.
