La-Nkwantang-Madina Municipal Assembly, on Friday demolished a number of structures being occupied by squatters and also serving as a brothel, behind the Redco Flats and the Ghana National Fire Service Unit at Madina, Accra. The six-hour exercise was supervised by Mr Richard Asante, Municipal Engineer, and 40 police personnel under the command of Superintendent Kwesi Annor Arhin, Madina District Commander. Mr Asante said told Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the squatters were first served with notices of eviction in July 2013, September 2013 and in December 2013. He said the last reminder was served this month. Assistant Superintendent of Police Arnit Asampana, Madina Divisional Police Commander, told the GNA that in the evening the area is often occupied by armed criminals who harass people.
