'Help Us Secure A Land For A Cemetery'

The Central Regional Chief Imam, Sheik Yusif Makalata has appealed to the Central Regional Minister, Mr Acquinas Tawiah Quansah, to help the Muslim community in Cape Coast secure a land for their cemetery. He said the Muslim community in Cape Coast did not have a cemetery to bury their departed ones, a situation he described as worrisome to their worship. Sheik Makalata said this during this years Eid-ul-fitr held near Holy Child School in Cape Coast. He indicated that their cemeteries at Antem, Abura and Asokyeno were all full for them to continue to bury people there. Touching on the countrys economic situation, Sheik Makalata called on all Ghanaians to rally behind the President to enable him to fix the current economic hardships. That, he said, would create an enabling environment for all to carry out their businesses peacefully. According to him, the current economic hardships were transient and that it would soon become a thing of the past. He also appealed to the government to include Muslim schools in the proposed 200 senior high schools to be built across the country. He, however, urged the Muslim community to continue to hold on to the teachings of the Holy Quran after the Eid-ul-fitr celebration. He also admonished the youth to desist from all forms of violence during the celebration of the Eid-ul-fitr. The Central Regional Minister, Mr Acquinas Tawiah Quansah assured the Muslim community of his support and said the Central Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) would continue to provide the needed support to the Muslim community in the region. He asked Muslims to continue to pray for peace in the country, saying, Let us protect the peace we are enjoying. He counselled that people could not enjoy their wealth in hostile environs thus the need to protect the countrys peace. He, therefore, challenged Muslims to lead a righteous life after the celebration in order for their efforts not to go down the drain after several days of fasting and praying.
