Woman, 21, Washed With Acid �Trotro Driver Boyfriend Wanted

The family of Mavis Otema, a twenty-one-year-old woman who has been barbarically deformed by her ex-boyfriend is seeking police assistance to apprehend Kwabena Ofosu, also known as Bodyman, a Trotro driver who is said to have allegedly poured acid on his lover. The heinous crime was committed after a prophet is said to have prophesied to him that his ex-lover was the cause of his woes and has sent him for spiritual money. Madam Adwoa Kyewaa, the mother of the victim told the DAILY HERITAGE that she received a call from Kwabena Ofosu on the morning of Friday, May 16, 2014, accusing her daughter of sending her for ritual money. According to Madam Kyewaa, the driver told her the prophet had revealed to him in a prophecy that all his woes are caused by her daughter and he will die for her daughter to swim in riches and threatened to kill her before he dies. At Around 3:30 am on Saturday 17, May 2014, they heard a loud scream and they rushed into the room and found her daughter crying and wailing in pain with acid all over the head to the chest. Miss Otema who is recuperating at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital said some time last year, she met Bodyman, a trotro driver who plies the Darkuman-Lapaz road and proposed to marry her, so they began a relationship. According to Otema, she later detected the man did not tell the truth because she realized he was a married man and decided to back off the relationship. She said after disclosing to him her intention to quit the relationship, the driver who was not satisfied refused her request. Otema said on Saturday 17, May, around 3:30am she heard Bodyman calling her while asleep, and immediately felt something had been poured on her and he quickly ran out of the room. She screamed loudly for help and her mother and some tenants came to her rescue and sent her to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where she was admitted and is receiving treatment. The case has been reported to the Lapaz Police and a hunt for the suspect has been declared.
