Ghanaians Urged To Be Patient With Govt

The Brong-Ahafo Presbytery Synod Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Ghana Rev, J.K.D Komladzei has called on Ghanaians to be patient and appreciate whatever measures the government is putting in place to arrest the current economic challenges. According to him, industrial actions and individual labour unions negotiating for pay packets might not be the best solution to the problem adding they may rather worsen our ailing economy especially, if the tendency is to hold the nation to ransom and bring the government working machinery on its knees. Rev. Komladzei made the call last Friday at the first synod of the Brong-Ahafo Presbytery of the church which was carved out of Ashanti. The theme for the Synod is God of life lead us to justice, peace and dignity for wholeness. He said the happenings around the world demanded that we should be grateful to the Lord for the relative peace we are enjoying as a nation and be proud of our democratic governance and sustain it. He bemoaned how a section of the public had been abusing the political dispensation with negative tendencies and called on the citizens, especially politicians to be circumspect in their utterances and respect the views of others on all sides of the political divide, saying pointing accusing fingers at others, the tendency to vilifying political opponents will only breed suspicion and disunity, a recipe for chaos and anarchy. The Synod Moderator expressed concern about the growing phenomenon of terrorism across the world, especially Africa, and called for prayers for God to touch the hearts of the terrorists for change of heart. Rev. Komladzei admonished Christians to eschew hypocrisy and serve God with sincere hearts saying that it was not enough for Christians to spend time in church singing praises, using religious rituals and traditions to make ourselves look good. The Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister Eric Opoku, commend the EP Church for its discipline, and urged churches in the country to ensure and maintain the sanctity of the church so as to perform their role effectively, observing that the proliferation of churches in the country had rather seen the moral degeneration of the youth. He said it was unfortunate for some church leaders to amass wealth at the expense of their congregants especially, the poor and called for a change of attitude. Mr. Opoku appealed to the people to assist the government in solving the economic problems of the country, noting that the wealth of Ghana was not created by one individual but the contribution of all.
