"Kids For Kids" Refurbish Library For Bekwai Roman Catholic JHS

Member of Parliament for Asante Bekwai has admonished the youth of his Constituency to cultivate the habit of reading since it is a sure way of getting them out of the abject poverty. According to Hon. Joe Osei Owusu, the world has changed and it is only through acquisition of knowledge that can guarantee the future of the Ghanaian youth. ��from the look of things, we will lack behind if we do not take education seriously. If you were born pauper like me then your only hope is education, through reading. So if you are presented with the opportunity acquire knowledge like what �Kids for Kids� is giving you, please take full advantage of it and take care of the books. ��I remember when I started schooling in this town; there was no book to read. We only read when our senior brothers brought books home on vacation. It would be lucky to chance upon a book to read so,� he said. Hon. Osei Owusu gave this word of caution during the commissioning of a fully stocked library for the Bekwai Roman Catholic Junior High School (JHS) in Asante Bekwai in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The library was renovated and stocked with over 2000 books by the Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Kids for Kids , at the cost of over GHC 12,000. According to Michael Danquah, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kids for Kids, his NGO has taken it upon itself to help shape the future of the young Ghanaian through reading and this project would be extended to other parts of the country. He, however, called on both teachers and pupils of the school to take good care of the facility and promised to heed the call of the school anytime it needed help.
