Multichoice Ghana Donates To Leukemia Foundation Project

Multichoice Ghana this week presented a cheque to the Leukemia Project Foundation in fulfilment of a pledge made to the foundation at its Second annual Health Walk, dubbed Walk For Life. The walk was to raise money for construction at the Ghana Centre for Haematological and Clinical Genetics at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) this year. Ms Mansa Nettey, President of the Leukaemia Project Foundation (LPF) has disclosed that the US$ 20 million project, would not only enhance proper diagnosis, treatment, care and support of patients of blood cancers in Ghana, but would also ensure that infections, which occurred as a result of the absence of a separate unit at the hospital, would be eliminated. The walk also creates public awareness about blood cancers and was organised under the theme: Changing the outlook of blood diseases in Ghana, and sponsored by the CAITEC Group, Ecobank and Citi FM. The US $1,250 donation was made up of several donations from the various Operations Manager across the Multichoice offices in Africa in memory of Aaron Ampofo, Ghanaian Operations Manager who passed away from leukemia in 2012. Mr Sunkwa-Mills pledged Multichoices continued support for LPF and said that we will not hesitate to support the organization in the future to help improve the quality of life and reduce the negative impact it has on people with blood cancers. Multichoice Ghana currently supports three main Corporate Social Responsibity programs; the Multichoice Resource Centres, The DStv Eutesat Star Awards and the Spelling Bee.
