Women Should Empower Children Through Education- Minister

The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Ms Mavis Ama Frempong, has advised women to reduce their expenditure on funeral cloths and rather invest in the education of their children. She gave the advice at the formal opening of the Eight Biennial Diocesan Christian Mothers Association Congress at the St Theresas Catholic Church at Suhum. She said the best legacy that a mother could leave for her children is good education and therefore urged women to sacrifice for such a pursuit. Ms Ama Frempong called on women organisations to start thinking of the establishment of projects that could create employment avenues for the youth. The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Samuel Kwabi Fletcher called on Christian mothers to provide high moral training for their children to help stop the moral decay in the society. He said the actions and inactions of parents are imitated by their children and therefore asked Christian mothers to lead exemplary lives to help preserve them going wayward. Reverend Monsignor Alex Bobby Benson, Director of Clinical Pastoral Education of the Catholic Church and Director of Matthew 25 in Koforidua, a home devoted for care and support for people living with HIV, told the Christian mothers that, the way they treat their children in the home would determine what their character would be in future.
