Rein In Erring NPP Aspirants -Etti

A MEMBER of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Frank Etti has appealed to the aspiring flagbearers of the party to conduct their campaign with the highest decorum and as well avoid trading accusations and counter accusations. According to him, the accusations and counter accusations, which has become rife amongst the flagbearers, was gradually getting out of hand and must, therefore, be checked in the shortest possible time. The fears of the NEC member, who is from the Western Region, are that if the practice is not stopped immediately, it would jeopardize the chances of the party in the National elections. Frankett, as he is popularly known, told The Chronicle in an interview that the disciplinary Committee of the party must sit up by reining in all the aspirants who have engaged in this bad conduct. He argued that no aspiring candidate was supreme than the collective interest of the party. Seven candidates are currently aspiring to lead the party. They are; Mr. Alan Kyerematen, Nana Akufo Addo, the 2012 flagbearer of the party, Joe Ghartey, Asamoah Boateng, Addae Nimoh and Osei Ameyaw. The battle for the congress is believed to be a straight fight between Mr. Alan Kyerematen and Nana Akuffo-Addo, with the rest just adding up to the numbers. In spite of the party decision to hold special congress to prune down the number of aspiring candidates, the NPP NEC member believes the congress was unnecessary, since it was going to drain the party financially. According to him, bussing and feeding delegates for the special congress ahead of the main Congress would obviously come at a cost to the party. To him, the party needs money to go into the 2016 campaign and not to waste it on pruning down on the number of candidates vying for the partys supreme position. We need money for 2016 and this Special Congress is going to be a waste on the party resource, Mr. Etti argued.
