Diageo Commits To Business Growth In Ghana

DIAGEO PLC, the parent company of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL), has committed to further growth and investment in its business in Ghana. This was made known when Otumfuo Osei Tutu II led a delegation to pay a courtesy visit to Diageo PLC � London, headquarters of Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL). As a key stakeholder in GGBL, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of Asanteman, where GGBL�s flagship headquarters is situated, used the visit to obtain first-hand information about the operations of Diageo PLC. Ekwunife Okoli, Managing Director of Africa Regional Markets, Diageo said, �Over the years, Diageo and Asanteman have enjoyed a great relationship that has led to the growth and development of both parties. �We appreciate the fortitude of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to develop Asanteman and on behalf of the entire Diageo team I congratulate him on his 15th anniversary and wish him more successful years as Asantehene. As a business we continue to recognise the opportunities in Ghana and commit to grow our business despite the current economic challenges. In 2013 for instance, we completed a GBP 27 million expansion project in our Kaasi brewery and invested another GBP 3 million in an innovative spirits packaging line in our Achimota brewery. �We are also working tirelessly to develop a sustainable supply chain with our local raw material agenda, which will see a significant shift from the importation of raw materials for production to sourcing raw materials locally in Ghana.� On his part, Otumfuo Osei Tutu expressed his appreciation to Diageo for the reception at the Diageo headoffice, as well as continuously investing in their Asanteman and Ghana, offering employment opportunities and economic growth in the country. Otumfuo was accompanied by Chief of Staff and advisors from the Manhyia Palace.
