Kumasi Police Grab Car Snatchers

THE ASHANTI Regional Police Command has, upon intelligence operations, arrested suspected car snatchers and a number of armed robbers involved in various criminal activities. DCOP Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander indicated that on August 16, 2014, at 8:15 pm, suspect Musa Kassim, Mohammed Oliver, Yusif Musah, Alidu Issifu and one other now at large hired a Toyota Hiace bus No. GT 1727-14 driven by one Eric Asante Bediako and asked him to transport them from Mbrom in Kumasi to Mankessim in the Central Region and agreed on a fare of GH�670.00. He said the suspects made part payment of GH�300.00 on same day at about 8:00 pm and then asked the complainant to pick them at Mbrom, Kumasi and to pick the other mourners at Pakyi No.2. On the reaching a spot at Pakyi No.2, Muhammed Kassim requested to attend to a nature�s call. He said immediately the driver stopped, the suspects pounced on him with hefty blows and forcibly removed the ignition key. The suspects also pulled out a pistol and threatened to kill him (driver) if he dared shout for assistance. According to the police Chief, the suspects subsequently tied his hands with a rope and covered his mouth with insulations and abandoned him by the road side and sped off. He said the complainant later made a report to the police where an SOS message was sent to all police stations in Ghana for the arrest of the suspects and vehicle. He said the vehicle was consequently intercepted at Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region and the suspects arrested but one of them, Fuseini managed to escape arrest. DCOP Boakye has made a passionate appeal to the general public to help the administration fight all against criminal activities in the region and beyond.
