Contrary to claims by the opposition that President John Mahama is incompetent, a communications team member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has likened him to Ghana�s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. According to Fred Agbenyo, the president �is a visionary who looks beyond the ordinary and puts in place measures to accelerate Ghana�s development." Citing the renovation of the Komenda Sugar Factory in the Central Region to buttress his point, the NDC man on Asempa FM�s Ekosii Sen programme on Friday said it will take �a leader with foresight to renovate a factory which collapsed due to poor management." He noted that after decades of failed promises by successive governments to bring the sugar factory back to life, government has secured a $35 million loan facility from India to revamp the collapsed factory. Fred Agbenyo indicated that the factory, among other things, will provide jobs for the teeming employed youth in the area. He said many of such projects will be replicated across the country as part of its fulfillment of the Better Ghana Agenda promise the NDC made to Ghanaians. �I will liken President Mahama to our first president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah; he is a visionary,� he stated. The NDC youth activist urged the opposition parties especially the New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to capitalize on the current socio-economic challenges in the country to incite Ghanaians against government. He described as unfortunate how the NPP constantly accused President Mahama of being incompetent and corrupt even when there are many development projects for all to see. Fred Agbenyo said in spite of the stiff opposition, government remains focused to deliver on all its promises. �We are working hard to fulfill all our promises, and I know Ghanaians will retain the NDC in power in 2016,� he added.
