GLICO GROUP, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, has presented a cheque of GH� 12,000.00 to the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association to purchase waste disposal tricycles. This gesture is to assist improve the sanitation conditions at Abossey Okai and its environs. Presenting the cheque to the Association, Mr. Sam Yeboah, the Group Head of Human Resources for GLICO GROUP, said that the donation formed part of GLICO�s commitment towards community enhancement projects especially in the area of health and community development. He further added that this initiative is to rid the community of filth which has engulfed the Abossey Okai environs specifically and the whole of Accra; in an effort to mitigate the impact of the cholera outbreak in Ghana. Mr. Yeboah stated that Abossey Okai lies dear to the heart of GLICO as it is the seat of GLICO�s success in Ghana. GLICO, then Gemini Life Insurance Company, started operations in 1987 from its then head office at Abossey Okai, now the Accra Main branch. He iterated that, �a cleaner environment impacts positively on staff productivity and health and thus GLICO�s heed to the clarion call to support the sanitation menace�. Additionally, he advised all Ghanaians to keep their homes, offices and surroundings clean and observe personnel hygiene since Cholera is a direct consequence of poor sanitary conditions. Finally, Mr. Yeboah pledged GLICO�s support towards the programmes of the Association. Accepting the kind gesture, Mr. Joseph Paddy, Chairman of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association, thanked GLICO for their support and urged other corporate organizations to associate themselves in curbing the sanitation situation in the area and the country as a whole.
