General Overseer of Champion Ways Ministries International, Rev. Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu, has indicated that Ghana as a country is over fifty (50) years behind success considering the level of borrowing from international bodies like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. According to the man of God, a country that cannot depend on its own natural resources to develop is nowhere near success, and that the time has come for leaders to develop programmes and strategies that will make Ghana self-sustaining. Dr. Owusu said this when he led youth of his church through a two-day International Youth Empowerment Summit (IYES) 2014, at the Champion Ways Chapel in Achimota, Accra. The summit was to inspire the youth to develop through the word of God, acquiring and sustaining knowledge to make wealth the Godly way. IYES 2014 was organised on the theme; �Before The Age 35� and was based on three thematic areas, �21 Secrets of Young Billionaires,� �Things you must do before the age 35,� and �Business you can start with or without money.� In his message, Dr. Owusu noted that Ghana needs societal visible leadership that can see in the future and plan towards them in the present. This way, he mentioned, majority of the people will be better off, and poverty will be eradicated. He mentioned that government must make it compulsory for everybody to be registered and issued with a National ID card. That, he added, will be a unique identity for each citizen. He also noted that government should implement policies towards a cashless economy where only banks will be holding physical cash. People, he said, should be using cards which they can use in transacting business. He averred that it also behoves the youth to take advantage of opportunities that surround them, especially the many opportunities that the Internet offers, and exploit that for good. According to him, many of the youth today limit themselves to one thing. He indicated that limiting oneself is tantamount to committing suicide since one cannot grow financially when he/she limits himself/herself. �You can do it at a very young age. Look many people who are considered billionaires in the world make it between the ages of 20 and 35�most of them as young as 14 and 17. Your story is not different from theirs. You can do it also,� he inspired the youth, advising them to be business-minded. According to the man of God, there are many opportunities available for the youth to exploit. �Building your wealth is almost every person�s dream. After years of hard work and toil, you want something to show for it. But how do you set aside the needs of the present and invest in your future?� he asked. Dr. Owusu also advised the youth to live within their means. According to him, that is one of the hardest lessons people attempt to learn as they learn more about personal finance. �Live within your means now in order to live above your means later. If you live beyond your means now, expect to live below it in the future. For most people, it�s easier to move up the ranks comfort instead of down.� He also advised them against purchasing items on impulse, saying that, �You may want that brand new car after you see your best friend driving down town with a slick pair of wheels, but that�s your emotional half talking, not your rational half. What you have to do is see if that is within your future plan and within your means and whether that is necessary.� He also called on the youth to study. Education, he said, was very important in the lives of an individual and as such that must be a priority for those who want to succeed. �If you find that your skills limit your earning potential consider going back to school. Trade school and community colleges have so much more to offer for your future prosperity. If your interest lies in the computer industry, for example, many community colleges offer computer certification tests. Go for it.� ��the tuition fees are usually less expensive and the training consumes less time than traditional degrees because you don�t have to take basic courses like Mathematics, English and History to get a technology or skills degree!� he noted. He charged the youth to worship God and follow His footsteps.
