The Bureau for Internal Affairs (BIA) an anti-graft organisation, on Monday expressed concern about the brisk commercial activities around the N1- Mallam Junction, which it said is posing danger to lives and property.
A statement issued by Miss Grace Tetteh, Administrative Secretary of BIA in Accra and copied to Ghana News Agency, said not long after the N1-Mallam stretch was completed a long truck which was loaded with a lot of items fell off from the overpass at midnight, which led to the death of the driver and his mate.
�In no time some people started selling under the overpass and gradually more people joined in the trade. Now the place has turned into a commercial activity centre. Trotro drivers have also succeeded in creating a trotro station at the spot,� Miss Tetteh said.
She said the place has become a disaster zone and should there be a motor accident, a lot of lives would be lost.
�This is a predictable disaster, which can be avoided. The Bureau for Internal Affairs is therefore calling on the Ga South Municipal Assembly to help reverse the situation,� Miss Tetteh said.
