Nana Akomea: Dj Vu Might Happen

Former Communications Director for the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP], Nana Akomea, says he cannot foresee Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, one of the partys flagbearer aspirants mounting any sort of comeback and redeeming the massive blow dealt him by his fiercest rival Nana Akufo-Addo at Sundays Super Delegates Congress, by overturning the scales at next months Presidential Primaries. The 2008 and 2012 Presidential candidate of the opposition party received an overwhelming endorsement from delegates when he literally strolled his way onto an empathic victory during the congress held to prune down the number of flagbearer aspirants to five. Of the 740 ballots cast, Nana Akufo-Addo polled 598 votes, representing 80.78%, with his closest contender Alan Kyerematen obtaining a paltry tally of 59 votes representing 7.98 per cent. And considering the magnitude of Nana Addos victory, the NPPs former Director of Communications believes Mr Kyerematen might perform woefully like he did during the Special Delegates Congress, should he decide to still contest Nana Addo next month at the second stage of the process to choose a presidential candidate. How can he [Alan] move from 7% [7.98] to 50% in just one month to be the flagbearer of the NPP? he quizzed. To him, it will inure to the benefit of the NPP, if the two-time Presidential Candidate is maintained as the partys flagbearer. Speaking on Asempa FM, the former NPP lawmaker noted that a case of dj vu could also occur with Mr Kyerematen voluntarily conceding defeat to Nana Akufo-Addo; just as he did in 2007. I wouldnt be surprised if Alan bows out of the race [NPP presidential primaries]. He has done that before and can do it again.possibly he [Alan] might do that this week, he said. Nana Akomea further opined that the outcome of the second congress could be more devastating to the political fortunes of the former Trade and Industry Minister, pointing out that some 140,000 delegates will be casting their vote; and that is also where Akufo-Addos massive following is centered. Alan should humbly step down and the whole party will commend him for his maturity in politics. He can do that, he said.
