President Mahama Assures Continuation Of Projects

President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday gave the assurance that government would continue to execute development projects despite the economic challenges. He said:"Despite the economic challenges we are currently facing, government has not stopped the execution of development projects and we shall continue to perform our duties." President Mahama gave the assurance when he inspected a GHC15.3 million 20 kilometre asphaltic overlay of some selected arterial roads in the Sekondi/ Takoradi Metropolis under the phase one of the road projects. Another 50 kilometres of similar roads would be executed under the second and third phases at the total cost of GHC 50 million. The projects, apart from improving the quality of roads, would also save some travel time and facilitate commerce and industry as well as increase tourist attraction in the Metropolis. President Mahama said no project had stalled with the inception of the economic challenges and government would therefore ensure that all the projects under construction are completed on schedule. The President said projects in roads, potable water and electricity were all on-going throughout the country irrespective of the challenges. He said government would also continue to award projects to all contractors performing well in the execution of their projects. The President expressed satisfaction at the progress of work, and said; local contractors would be given the necessary push to perform better. He was accompanied by Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister and some government officials.
