The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kofi Adams, has said the weakest link in the party is the National Organiser. ��As far as I am concerned, the weakest link in the party is the National Organiser and that as a person who does not chase after titles but solve problems, I think I fit perfectly for that job to rejuvenate and strengthen the party,� he stated. In an interview with the Daily Graphic, he explained that it was for that reason he was contesting the position of a National Organiser instead of that of the General Secretary of the party. Reacting to an assertion by the NDC National Organiser, Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan, that he thought Mr Adams would have contested the position of General Secretary, he said it was not for Mr Boateng to suggest to him which position he deemed fit for him [Adams]. �I am contesting the position of the National Organiser of the party to strengthen that position,� he told the Daily Graphic. He assured the party�s supporters that he would be a problem-solving national organiser. He, therefore, called for their massive support for a resounding victory in the 2016 election. On the claims made by Mr Gyan that the party should retain the winning team, he indicated that he had been part of the winning team since 2005 playing other roles and added that he was not new to the party organisation. He stressed that he had served the party in various capacities in the past and wanted to serve the party in such a way that �we would reduce to the barest minimum the despondency that has set in�. The Deputy General Secretary explained that he wanted to regularly be on the field to find out the problems at the grass roots and work out effective strategies and solutions to them. According to him, he would welcome the support of former President Rawlings in the form of positive testimonies and comments about him as well as support from the executive, both current and old, across the country. Relatedly, Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan has said he is confident delegates will ditch his contender, Kofi Adams, for what he says is his �disrespectful� attitude towards President John Mills. Mr Boateng Gyan believes the NDC delegates are conscious of how the utterances of the deputy general secretary affected the party when the late president was in office. The aide to former President Jerry Rawlings has accused the member of the Black Stars Management Committee of incompetence and lacking adequate knowledge of his job as a national organiser of the ruling party. But speaking to Okay FM on Monday, Mr Boateng Gyan said he was not bothered by such accusations. �Kofi Adams keeps telling people I don�t know my job but I wonder if he understands what the role of a national organiser is. I worked to bring the party to power, and he keeps talking. I won�t mind him. �The NDC delegates are aware of how he insulted our late president and made several dirty remarks about him on radio, so they will judge between us on voting day,� he stated. The NDC would go to congress on October 24 to elect new national executive. The congress would run from October 24 to 26 at a yet-to-be decided venue.
